It’s a New Year and I am excited to get it started!

I have been busy these past few months. My family and I moved into our new home and couldn’t be happier!! I am still working for Dick Scott Automotive Group and now so is my husband, Nick in the Sales Department :-)

Our two Son’s are 3 years and 6 years now, and I still can’t figure out how that happend, lol. In my spare time I am still making candles and runing Simply Soy by Nikki Business is picking up so it’s a lot of work doing it all, but so worth it!

I love my business and all the amazing people I get to meet and events I have been privileged to attend! I am so lucky to have been invited into two Local businesses. So now you can find my candles at the Green and Glamorous Boutique in Canton and The Great Escape Spa in Dearborn! And of course www.SimplySoybyNikki.com

So here I am… almost 3 years later making wonderful smelling soy candles for my family and friends and my new friends that I am so lucky to have met through my candle business I truly appreciate each and every person who has bought my candles and I work very hard to do the best I can to make your candles just the way you like them!! I’ll even pour them in your own container! I have done Weddings, party favors and special gifts!

Simply Soy by Nikki Candles and my other Natural Products (Aroma Ice, Laundry Detergent and whatever else I get inspired to make that week) will also be available every Saturday! I have a permanent space near the barn. Last week my Scented Aroma Ice jars were flying off the table, and not because it was windy The most popular scent was Tropical Breeze and Sun & Sand, just like the Yankee Candles scent. They are perfect for car fresheners, offices, or any room you would like to smell nice without a flame. Please feel free to stop by and say “Hi” if your out and about. No purchase necessary

There are several other craft tables set up with all kinds of unique crafts, perfect for all occasions! There are scented wood flowers, Book “Thongs” holds your place and makes your book look “sexy” lol Looking for natural unique rocks and natural stones? Last week there was a table with a huge selection of stones and rocks and jewelry made from them. Every week there is a large Sterling Silver Booth with TONS of necklaces, rings, earrings and more and Pampered Chef was there last week too! You never know who is going to show up. Several booths are there every week and others come on and off through out the season, you never know what you might find. The produce looked great last week, and every week there is New Fresh Produce to choose from.

I am excited to announce that I have recently added my candles to the Green and Glamorous Boutique in Canton. It’s an upscale resale shop located at the corner of Ford Rd. and N. Lilley Rd. in the Canton Corner Shopping Mall two doors away from the Outback Steakhouse! They are open Monday thru Saturday 10am – 7pm. Now you can convienently pick up my candles six days a week!

Soy Wax vs. Paraffin

According to many sources, soy candles last 50% longer than candles made of petroleum-based paraffin, the ingredient found in most candles. They also burn slower and cooler (helping to better distribute fragrance), are non-toxic, less likely to trigger allergies, clean up with soap and water, and produce little to no soot. These factors tend to make them more animal and child-friendly than traditional candles.
Soy wax is also very popular with people who are very aware of the environment. It is made from soybeans, it’s naturally biodegradable, a renewable resource, and is found right here in Michigan. I also live in Michigan; almost ALL of my products used to make Simply Soy Scented Candles are purchased from local distributors. Buying Simply Soy candles supports our local economy!
Paraffin wax, on the other hand, is made from petroleum, and produces carcinogens and soot when burned. In fact, one air quality researcher stated that the soot from a paraffin candle contains many of the same toxins produced by burning diesel fuel. Even many of the seemingly healthy, aromatherapy candles sold today can do more harm than good.
The newly popular gel candles are also petroleum-based and, though contrary to widely circulated emails, they are not likely to explode, they do pose a danger. If sufficient heat builds up, the glass container housing the candle can shatter.
Beeswax is another popular alternative to paraffin candles. It is also less likely to trigger allergies and does not produce toxins or soot when burned. It is generally more expensive than paraffin but burns longer. However, very few beeswax candles contain ONLY beeswax. Most contain a significant amount of paraffin.
Soy candles appear more opaque with a whitish film. Soy candles also will never look “Perfect” like paraffin candles. This is because soy wax does not contain any of the chemical fillers other waxes use. This lack of chemicals prevents soy wax from appearing smooth on top before and after burning. However, this “Imperfect” appearance is exactly what makes Simply Soy Scented Candles a Healthy, “I’m-Perfect” choice for you and the environment!
